Above: receiving my Tui Na certificate from Dr Chen, the director of the Tui Na department at Zhejiang Hospital, Hangzhou.

I have been interested in Eastern Medicine for over a decade now. Being a Reiki Master and a Tui Na Physician, I find that Eastern philosophy incorporates a way of treating the person as a whole, combining mind, body and spirit, which I feel is most beneficial.

I hold a Level 3 BTEC Advanced Award in Anatomy and Physiology. I have practiced Tui Na for over 9 Years in England, having also worked with Doctors in Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of TCM in Hangzhou, China, where I received my Tui Na Certificate.

I obtained my Tui Na qualification under the tuition of Errol Lynch. I had to complete 200 hours clinic supervision, in addition to gaining experience in Errol's drop-in clinics. Errol has established these drop-in clinics to replicate the way the Hospitals are set up in China.

I have run various clinics in the Yorkshire area. Currently I am running a clinic at Chiropractic Plus, in Haxby and Pocklington, where I work alongside the Chiropractors, and at The Wellness Centre in Northallerton, which is a multi disciplinary clinic. In addition to running several clinics I taught Tui Na at Manchester Metropolitan University to first year students, from 2011 to 2014.

Above: Tai Chi at West Lake, Hangzhou, early morning, before going to study and work at the hospital. West Lake is a very beautiful and popular part of Hangzhou. Around the lake there is Tai Chi, dance and martial arts classes. Many residents of Hangzhou go there twice a day, early morning, as the sun rises, and evening time when the sun starts to go down. Out of curiosity, Marco Polo described West Lake as one of the wonders of the world.

This meal is attended by all the doctors from the Tui Na ward as well as the foreign students. Here, Dr Song Hongquan, Chief Physician of Chinese medicine at Zhejiang Hospital, Associate Professor of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, and Tutor of Master Students, is being playful, pretending to take my certificate back.
